Thankful Thursday-One Thing Led To Another

Here are some pictures from our minor home remodeling project.
You can see in the above picture that our refrigerator was basically a little island in the middle of three rooms.  The door on the left leads to what I call my “quiet room” (there are major rules for this room!!!).  The room on the right is our dining room and then of course, the kitchen.  It has always been so hard to get to the refrigerator with it facing the cabinet the way it does.  So daddy suggested that we wall up the door and get some more room.

Above, daddy is walling up one side and below is a picture of the other side all sheet rocked and ready for texture.

Mom and I couldn’t do anything to help the guys, so we spent time learning how to smock on my sewing machine.  In the back ground, my niece, Hannah, who came over for the day, is preparing the wall for texture.

This picture is just because my dad is so darn cute with his grandchildren!!!
All is coming together nicely.  And one thing led to another; we needed to paint the new wall, so I decided we would just paint the whole kitchen since it needed it!!!  Now mom and I got busy!!
Above...almost done, just needing some second coats of paint.   See the little angel on the tray?  I tried to wash the dirt off of her, and all her “hair” came off.  Well, I guess all construction must have a few casualties.
This picture is just for your viewing pleasure.  You may be saying to yourself “What in the world is going on here?”  Well, I’ll tell you...I put the second coat on to quickly, then tried to pull the tape off, and the paint just came off like a latex glove.  Lesson learned...painting on tea stained walls is tricky, and be patient!!!!!!

I am so thankful that my parent came down to help us with this project.  It is so much easier to do a job when people you love are helping you (besides that, they are both so smart with construction and decorating).  And I am thankful to have this pretty new paint in my kitchen!  It was looking dingy, and paint is such an inexpensive way to change the look of a room.
 And what about “that” wall?
Well, here is a picture I took right this minute with my computer.  You can see that I still have a little work to do.  So to finish up this post.  I am thankful also for good work to do here in my home!

Thankful Thursday

As I write my Thankful Thursday post, I can't help but think of the precious lady that started it...Linny and her family...please click over to her blog if you do not know what is happening with their family and please remember them and pray for them.
So Linny, this is for you and your family....
I am thankful...
-that you belong to the One and Only Lord God who says "Fear not, I am the one who helps you",
-that your family is precious in His sight because He says "you are precious in MY eyes, and honored, and I love you",
-that you know your strength comes from Him and believe when he says to you "be strong and courageous",
-that your family has been chosen by the LORD to be His witnesses as He says "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen" because all Gods people exist to be living proof of His all -sufficiency,
-that as you face the battles against your family, you can firmly say "I am the LORDS" ,
-that you are "chosen and will not be cast off ,
-that the LORD will "tend his flock (your family) like a shepherd: he will gather the lambs in His bosom and gently lead those that are with young."
Most of these verses came form Isaiah. Remembering His love and faithfulness and thankful for that!

Thankful Thursday

Psalm 118:1 says "Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good: for his steadfast love endures forever!"
Sometimes (good, happy times) it is easy to thank the LORD for his goodness, at other times (hard, emotional times) it is not as easy ... yet many times in the Bible we are told to remember, to give thanks. I really notice a shift in my faith, emotions and attitudes as I practice thankfulness...so Linny, again thank you for encouraging us in this holy practice!
I am thankful this week...
-for beautiful ice sculptures in my trees,
-that Kalyn and I are on the Uganda team,
-for snow fun that we have enjoyed this week,

-for beauty even in a rooster's brillant colors,

-for my sweet man
-for four young children under four (this is a confession as well..."be thankful Shonni, as they interrupt and yell for the 1,000,000th time, that they are healthy and well, there are nap times (LOL),
-did I mention that I am thankful for nap times
-for Kalyn and Caresse, Kiana and Landon, who clean the lunch up so I can have my computor time
-changing of the clothes for a new season mostly done
-that three children get to participate in the Easter weekend.
Thank you for visiting and be sure to drop by A Place Called Simplicity for more thankful encouragement.

Thankful Thursday

Linn began Thankful Thursdays some time ago and I am going to start this also, because, well, it is helpful to think about what I am thankful for and to write it down. As Linn said, thankfulness is a conscious decision. And between homeschooling, and the four under four, I am feeling a little "run over" right now.
I am thankful
1. that I "get to" live in beautiful Colorado1!! It's beauty constantly refreshes me...
2. for the Ford Bronco my husband bought for me last year because he knows how I love my Bronco...
3. for the new friends I am meeting while we blog...
4. for naps (honestly...it's the only time I'm not interrupted ever two minutes.)...
5. For the new things I'm learning about my hobby - photography.
If you want to be apart, please let Linn know...she would love to hear from others I'm sure.
