Look What We Got To Do

We were asked to helped on Shearing Day at our local Alpaca/Llama friends ranch.

It was such a cool experience for the children to get to help.

I was a "noodler" for the day.  I would roll the fresh shorn coat/fiber from the animal into a roll and package it up with any good neck fiber.

And I got to tell you, while it was an awesome fun day, I WILL wear knee pads if I ever noodle for the day again.

"Look!!!!"

That's what Aiden yelled as he saw a cute little baby commercial on T.V..
I asked him "What?".
He said, "Look at the cute white baby."
LOL
There is really nothing else to add to this.

From Kalyn, Guatemala 2013!

Hi everyone! This year I am so blessed to be going back to Guatemala, and this year a very special someone is coming with me. Can you guess? My Mom! I am so excited for her to be able to come with me and see this wonderful country and meet these amazing people I have gotten to know the last 2 years. Every year has been so awesome and God has shown up every year and every year the team is so great and work together so well. This team that goes really is like a family (mainly because it is my family J ). My grandparents lead the trip for their church every year and have been going for the last 6 years. My aunt and uncle have also been going for two to three years, and we were joined by another aunt and uncle of mine last year. A good friend of the family who is an eye doctor has been going with my grandparents for several years. And every year it is so excited to see the old and the new and how God brings everyone together. I am so eager for my mom to be going with us this year, it is going to be incredible!
We will be running an Eye clinic, a Medical clinic and a construction team. The people there are wonderful and it is really fun to go to all the different villages and see all these new and beautiful places.

But the most important thing for me is that I want to be a servant. The adventure is fun and it is all so exciting but that is not why I go. Every year I pray God give me a servant’s heart because you have blessed me greatly and I cannot give of money or material things but I can give of my time and energy and most importantly of my love. And that is the goal set we all have when we go to Guatemala God make us servants to serve in anything and everything that You give us to do.
Thank you so much for everyone who has supported me in the past. It truly blesses me so much. This year if you would like to support my mom and I, you can send it to us at 12375 woodlake rd. 80106 Elbert Co or to my grandparents church at,  Church on the Rock South Campus 10503 Slide Road Lubbock, TX 79424. And if you cannot give in money we also need prayers, so if you would lift us up in your prayers and pray that everyone will be safe and that all of our luggage would arrive safely and that we will be Gods hands and feet while we are there that would also bless us greatly.

Thank You

All-righty Then...Almost Ready

 Aren't these cool looking?
Steve is almost finished building the bee hives.
And he even made little glass windows so that the children can see them working.
Now we just need the weather to warm up a tad before next week, when the bees are suppose to come.
We have never done this before, so we are learning a lot.  It's fun, and just to get in the mood for all that fresh bees wax, I bought some so that I can try making home made bees wax candles.  We will see...
to be continued.

PLEASE Read This...

Some of you might have seen this but if you haven't, please read it. Just this week as I read about the abuse to young ladies, and considered that the most productive industry today is the sex slave industry, I have been asking myself the same question ... Why have we stopped protecting our daughters!  And for that matter, our sons.
So please read and share this, and let us all consider the little ones that God have given to us to lead and protect!!

Our Little Lambs

 Here are our new girls....

I took the children to the sheep ranch today so that they could see our new lambs.

They loved getting to see all the momma's and their babies.
Our two ewe's will come home around June after they wean.
They are Shetland Sheep, which I like because they do not get very big.  We are getting them for their wool, which I will have so much fun spinning.
We still need to name them.  Kalyn, my little funny love came up with "Delicious" and "Tasty".  LOL  It may stick, but I hate to put those names on our registration papers.  If we have babies later and want to sell them, I think it will sound funny to say "This is Tasty's son."

One Of Our Favorite Things...

...is to get away together in the mountains.  Steve and I had a wonderful weekend up at Estes Park a few weeks back to celebrate 25 years of marriage.

Steve proposed to me at the top of a Colorado mountain, and all these years later, it is still our favorite place to be together.
We enjoyed a little place by a river that was still partially frozen.
We went into the eastern part of Rocky Mountain National Park where we saw lots of elk (see the above...all those brown spots are elk).
We also hiked on some awesome trails and ate our picnic in the snow.

 We hiked up to this frozen water fall;

and enjoyed the amazing winter views.

We also found this little church "on the rock"... literally built on a rock...
Pretty cool huh?

Hey Ya'll...

How are things in your home?

Still no news on job/relocation.  So for now, this is still our home, and we have asked the LORD to show us the work that needs done.

Steve has really become interested in bees; so he built boxes for our bees that will come from CA later this month. We are looking forward to the honey, and Caresse and I are looking forward to the wax to make lotions from.   Steve even bought a table saw to help build the houses for the bees, and a shed for our two little lambs.

Yep, seriously, we are bringing home two baby ewes that were born last week.  That's right - sheep.  They were born Easter weekend, and will be coming home to us in June.   They are Shetland sheep, and we are really excited.  We wanted them to have our own fiber for spinning and knitting.  I need to name my two newest  girls - want to help me?  Please comment with you suggestions.  There will be a prize for the two names that I chose.

I had to have a cortisone shot in my elbow today - injury from last year when I fell and broke my collar bone.  Shot - 2, after pain -9.  Boy has it hurt tonight!

Today is my ________________ birthday.
Yep, 49 years that the LORD has blessed me.  To HIM be the glory!   I am grateful to HIM for each day.

One of my oldest daughters has had a rough week.  One of the hardest things to teach a child that has spent the majority of her life in an orphanage is "what does a family look like and how is it different from everything you have ever known..."
I ask the LORD daily for wisdom to mother each of my children and I am so proud of my them...
not because of anything that we do, but as we work with GOD, we are privileged to see "who" these little people are.  I find myself "falling in love" with them all the time.
Speaking of cute, I little house finch showed up in our garage this morning, and seems to be hurt.  All my little people are asking me to come make it better.  So I guess I will go see if I can be a bird doctor now...LOL.
