Parenting Verse-one

"Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God." James 1:19-20

You are probably familiar with this verse as I am, however, I have been especially looking at verses with an eye towards what it teaches me as a mother. I then label these with a "p" for parenting and a pink sticky label so that I can find them quickly.
So here is my "mommy paraphrase" of the above verses; "I need to be quick to listen to my children, slow to speak until I have heard their heart, and slow to anger, for my anger will not bring about the LORD'S righteousness in their little hearts."

I find this helpful and even now as a write this, I am reminded and convicted of an incident that I handled very badly just a few hours ago.
"Father, please forgive me for being quick to anger, and slow to hear and speak. Help me to patiently parent my children and I ask that YOU would bring about YOUR righteous fruit in their lives. Amen"

  3. Shonni - email me about your Nativity Celebration - I would love to hear more about it!

We just don't understand the world - nor should we as followers of Christ. We sit back and shake our heads watching the world spin around for the next two months. We pray that our children will see us giving not for our glory but His - not to them but the world around us! We have taught them about adoption - into His family and theirs into ours - really His too! How God wants us to shine His love and light all through the year and especially during this season - because the darkness hides behind the veil of His Son at Christmas. It is very sad and tragic! Commercialization is satan's greatest tool to keep many from doing God's business and giving Him glory!

We also celebrate a few times during the next three months Betlehem Supper. I think I have a link to it on our blog. If not email me and I'll share it with you! It is a wonderful tradition that our children LOVE - it is a way to honor Jesus at the last supper!

Hugs and much love! Oh if only we lived closer together I know our families would get along so well!
