Thoughts and Fruit

I love capturing the little moments between my children. Corbin loves to have someone read to him.
The last few weeks have been so busy! This weekend I was up in the mountains for a church retreat. It was nice, but I am ready to settle things down around here.
I find my mind constantly thinking now about our little one in Ethiopia...it feels familiar to the end of a pregnancy...waiting and praying and a little anxious.

I began to think about fruit (I know, I tend to jump to subjects-LOL). I read in Prov. 11:30 "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise."
I was thinking how fruit really isn't for the "tree", but to nourish others. Then I looked at my Bible notes and read this..."The life of the righteous leads not only to blessing for themselves but also provides fruit that "captures souls" in the sense of leading people out of the path that ends in death."
Also the fruits of the Spirit...yes, I am blessed by them, however, do I desire them for me? or to give to others. So do I GIVE love, joy, and peace to those around me? Do I give patience, kindness, goodness, or faithfulness to others to nurture their lives? How about gentleness or self-control? I haven't always thought of it like this.
I can't produce good fruit on my own (believe me, I have tried and failed at it). But I believe that unintentionally, without thinking about it, and believing that I had good motives...I was really trying to produce good fruit for me. The tree doesn't "eat" it's fruit...it is given to another. I want my fruit to "capture" others and bring them to the Lover of their souls.
So, just some thoughts in my head...

  1. Bless your heart, you have a beautiful family! My heart is for the orphans, and it really blesses me to find families who open up their hearts to God's children.

    Blessings,

  4. Thank for sharing that. I have never thought of it that way. As I think about, I probably am praying for those fruits mostly for myself--'cause I tend to be selfish that way. ugh. Thanks for the different perspective. :)

  6. Beautiful photos!

I love how God words provoke deep truths in our hearts to be shared - fruit from a tree is NOT to be eaten by the tree but for others to enjoy!

Yes, as are the fruits of the Spirit! To draw others unto the LORD!

    Hugs and much love,

  10. Oh dear friend. I absolutely LOVE your heart!
How I long to give it all away, too. The more we give it away, the more He fills us up with more glorious fruit.

    So amazing.
    Gorgeous pics of your sweeties.
    Love you heaps.
