Ohh, The Twirby-ness Of Them

How do you like them?  We call the dress twirby for it twirl-ability.
Now here’s the shocker...I sewed them.
Yep, pick yourself up off the ground...LOL!
It really all began with desperation.  Clothes cost so much and Steve and I have spent years of aggravation trying to get clothes that were inexpensive, yet cute for the children.  It is especially hard to find cute things that don’t cost a fortune for the girls!  And then the first wash and they shrink and look horrible.  I finally got tired of it all this year and decided that I would sew for the girls.  That is what I have been busy with the last two week.  Intense non-stop sewing.  I have sewn 10 dresses for different girls and helped Caresse with a few.
My favorite place to find ideas, fabric and patterns, besides the things on sale at Hancock Fabric here in town, is Fairytale Frocks and Lollipops.  They have had some good deals on pretty fabric.
Of course with 5 girls (and our little darlin’ in China bringing that number to 6), there is still so much more I need to do, but I have found that I enjoy sewing when I have a pattern that I like working with.

My parents will be here soon to help us with the small remodeling that we are doing in the kitchen.  I can’t wait to see my mom finally walking around with out her crutches.  And I can’t wait to show them both what I have sewn...mom is going to be very surprised!!!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

  2. Okay, I'm totally impressed. Totally. Enough to think about trying to learn to sew myself. Wonder if I could rent a machine from somewhere to give myself a trial run?
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  15. Hi Shonni. I have been stalking your blog for a year now. Thought it was time to say hi. I am mutual friends with Kim (His hands His feet) and Amy (building the blocks). I admire your heart and just wanted to introduce myself.
I am a mama to six and one on the way (3 bios 4 adopted). I can barely sew a button so I am super impressed with the dresses. Have a great week.

  16. The twirl factor is huge for Marissa. Love that about girls who love dresses!! She got two for her birthday and she rated the twirl factor of each one!!

Enjoy your parents! Mine were here yesterday for marissa's birthday and i just never know what is going to come out of my sweet mother's very old-fashioned old schooled mouth, has me on guard the whole time. And she did not disappoint!! :-(

  18. I love them! Most of all I love the girls' feet :) They are so adorable - they look like little pink feet that got sprinkled with cocoa powder from above, leaving the edges uncoated. They are beautiful feet! xo
