O.K, Prayers Please...

Oh, the journey to our children!!!  Whether through birth or adoption, there are so many emotions; days that are up, and days that are down.
When I was pregnant with Caresse (our 3rd, and last pregnancy for health reasons), I had been SOOO SICK (life threatening) and was just not into the whole birth thing!  I had gone through more than I thought I could handle.  I am not kidding when I tell you that I told Steve more than once that I didn’t want to go into labor.  Yea, I can laugh now, because of course, we all know that nature will do what it does.  And it did, and she came, wrong side up (which made for a difficult AND PAINFUL delivery).  I was so relieved to be holding her and all I could say was “It’s a baby, it’s a baby”!  Steve finally laughed and said, “Yes, and since you are the only one who has held “it”, tell us if it is a girl or a boy!!”  (We birthed at home, which I loved by the way).
Now on to today, and as we wait for our children from China, I wanted to update ya’ll on the “pregnancy”.  We sent in the papers to be authenticated at the Chinese Consulate in Chicago over three weeks ago.  Within a few days the whole package showed back up - un-authenticated.  Two problems; my birth certificate had to go to Texas for authentication separate from the rest (which we didn’t know), and our police report was over 6 months old, which they would not accept - the notary has to be under 6 months.
We sent my stuff to Texas and already received it back last week.
HOWEVER, our updated police reports have still NOT showed up.  I was so hopeful that our dossier would be in China by now.  And I am disappointed that it could still be “who knows” how long.  Everything is so time sensitive and well,
it is frustrating.  Would ya’ll please pray with us....THANK YOU.
This afternoon I’m off to the dr. for Caresse.  She has a really bad rash on her legs and arms.  I had this a week ago, and now Kalyn woke up with it this morning.  However, Caresse has it much worse than us, so I am hopeful to find something that will help her.
We had a great day yesterday celebrating Mother’s Day 1st at church, and then at my favorite local State park for a picnic, hiking, and wonderful river playing.  No pictures, if you can believe that...both of my batteries were dead.
Time for lunch, because after I eat my healthy fruits and veggies, I am going to indulge in the delicious chocolate cake that is waiting for me.  YUMMM.

  1. Shonni, I am so sorry you got backed up over technicalities. Praying for your paperwork to flow along smoothly and quickly. Our dossier is being prepared this week so I am hopeful that we, too, will not have any glitches. We got backed up waiting on authentication of our home study addendum. Pregnancy of any sort is not easy, I totally agree. Hope you enjoyed the cake!!!

  6. Oh I am soooooo praying for your paperwork, my friend. It is the HARDEST part of the adoption journey. Boy do I understand after Hailee and Harper's nightmare paperwork.

Know that you are covered in prayer.

Yesterday Anthony randomly said, "I so miss seeing Steve and Shonni!" I agreed :(

  7. Praying with you! It is so hard to wait and so disappointing when things don't happen on time.

Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and trusting in HIM! He has a perfect plan!

    HUGS,
    Jean

  8. Praying for your paper work to process quickly Shonni, I understand completely what you're going through. The paper work from our state is 3 months behind and I'm certain once we receive it I'll have to notarize everything all over again.

Praying that the Lord moves this mountain.

  10. Praying for you...we, too, are waiting for something BIG. After a few years of having plenty in the bank, suddenly we don't have anything and we just got a referral for two little girls in Ethiopia. Our IRS refund will cover the $17K we need, but it's NOT HERE YET and we have a deadline for accepting the referral. We're sending out a "HELP!" kind of prayer now. Oh, how we long to give God the glory for making this happen!
Thank you for writing this blog. It has encouraged me many times.

  11. Oh, praying for you! We understand! We thought we had our dossier done about a month ago, and just an hour before my husband was going to mail the dossier, he discovered the two issues you mentioned above (birth certificate and police checks), and we are STILL waiting on the latter. Sigh. I had so hoped we could bring Aubrey ("Lisa" from ASIA) home this summer, but it will likely be Christmas or later. We are, as others have said, waiting for the IRS refund to help fund the adoption, and we're also waiting/hoping/praying for insurance to cover a huge surgery bill that should pay for the rest of the adoption, but that seems to be in a permanent stall, so we're nervous about the funding right now and are praying Phil. 4:4-7 on a daily basis. :-) Blessings to you! I'm praying for your progress in your adoptions!

  13. Oh there are days when this process feels like banging our heads into brick walls, aren't there?
I'm praying for you! I so understand how frustrating it is to be much further behind that planned.
