Our Divinely Appointed Tasks

Playing some more with my new Photoshop Elements...the above picture was obviously out of focus, but before deleting it I decided to try adding "noise" to it to see if I could make something from it...after playing here and there, the below picture is the finished photo..I really liked how it turned out.
I read something so perfect from Elisabeth Elliot's book A Lamp For My Feet. It was so needed (God knew!!!) So I'm going to post it today because I figure many of us need this reminder at times.
Sometimes a task we have begun takes on seemingly crushing size, and we wonder what ever gave us the notion that we could accomplish it. There is no way out, no way around it, and yet we cannot contemplate actually carrying it through. The rearing of children or the writing of a book are illustrations that come to mind. Let us recall that the task is a divinely appointed one, and divine aid is therefore to be expected. Expect it! Ask for it, wait for it, believe that God gives it. Offer to Him the job itself, along with your fears and misgivings about it. He will not fail or be discouraged. Let His courage encourage you. The day will come when the task will be finished. Trust Him for it.
"But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame." Isaiah 40:7

  1. Stunning photo!

Thanks for the reminder today---I have so many days when I need reminding of the tasks HE has given me. That, in my own strength, they are impossible to do. I love that quote.

  3. Shonni, thanks for the reminder... again. It's funny, because I always take on huge tasks and in the middle of two large tasks now... but... I know my God is good and I really would not have taken on these tasks without His direction... sometimes in the midst of the tasks we forget the whole focus... thanks for listening to Him and relaying the message to those who need to hear (me)!! I love how He uses friends to get the message across... it's another example of His love!

  5. Thank you so much for this post. I have really struggled today with being discouraged. The post spoke to me, with words that I desperately needed to hear. Your family is inspiring and so beautiful.

I long to bring home an orphan from China. Unfortunately, my husband does not feel that calling. I needed to read those words you posted today. Thank you.
